In a recently published announcement, the Dschinni team announced that from January 1st, 2023 , shisha tobacco packaging weighing more than 25 grams will no longer be allowed to be sold. This means that packaging with a size of 200 grams and 1 kilogram will no longer be allowed to be sold from this date. The shisha association was unable to prevent the change, but was able to successfully obtain an extension of the transition period by 6 months.
The aim of the change is to combat the black market in shisha bars. Customers are therefore forced to buy 25 gram packaging in the bars and are therefore banderole breakers. The entire contents of the packaging of 25 grams must be handed over to the customer to avoid the sale of illegal products.
This means a significant change for manufacturers, as machines for producing 25-gram units are much more complex and expensive to operate. Many manufacturers may struggle to navigate this transition, especially as laws are expected to become even more stringent in the coming years.
The Dschinni team took the upcoming change as an opportunity to change the entire production and improve the product. All criticisms from recent years have been taken into account in order to offer customers the best possible product.
Despite the change and the potential difficulties for manufacturers, the Dschinni team emphasized that they will return stronger and better than ever. Rumors that the company would no longer produce were dismissed as a mere discrediting campaign by other tobacco manufacturers.
The decision to limit the size of shisha tobacco packaging will undoubtedly have an impact on the industry. However, exactly how this will play out remains to be seen. However, the Dschinni team is confident that it will continue to be able to provide customers with high quality shisha tobacco in the future.
